Just my luck

So....before you turn in your thesis at UT, you must meet with the thesis consultant 3 times. Each time I have waited about 3-4 hours and since my advisor was out of town until yesterday, I had to wait til today, the final deadline, for my final meeting with the advisor (which is, by the way, a girl named Alan, but who am I to talk?). I came earlier this week for my second visit. Got here at 7:30 and left at 9:30 because they hadn't seen me yet and had to come back in the afternoon. So I thought since it was the last day that it would be packed. I get here at 6:30 and they start seeing people at 8. So it is now 5 minutes til 8 and I am the only one here. I could have slept 2 more hours....awesome. When I hand this in, I am officially done (I also have to pay a parking ticket so that I can graduate).

Sorry, Peaches, Emily, Emily, and Amy for not giving a shout out to my fun weekend in Birmingham. It was great to see you all...share in the drama...and experience some honesty.

It's OVER

So sorry that it has taken me so long to update this, but my thesis is DONE.  I have never put so much time and effort into anything.  I don't know what to do with myself all day now.  I had been so busy that I had not been able to keep up with the tanning bed visits that I am supposed to be going to according to the doc.  So I went yesterday for the first time in about 3 weeks.  Meant to stay a shorter time, but fell asleep...imagine that.  So I am hurting right now.  The sun hasn't been out in knoxville in 2 weeks and I am sunburned.
I am finalizing all the stuff for the business and that is really exciting.  Headed to Houston in less than 2 weeks now.

I'll keep everyone posted

Get 'er done.

THE THESIS IS DONE.  All 115 pages of it...done....I don't really know what to say about that.  I don't know what else I am going to think about every moment of every day.  I defend it tomorrow and take it the printer Monday morning.  Then I get the little orange slip that says I have completed all the requirements for a master's degree.
Fun night of Karaoke last night for Lindsay's birthday.  Other than that, nothing too exciting over the past few days.  I have been at school for the majority of the time.  Hope everyone is having a great week and I will talk to you soon.

The Weekend

Went to a wedding this weekend...shocker. Well, actually let me rephrase that. Tried to go to a wedding this weekend. John Thurman and Beth Sumner got married Saturday. Jason and I were going to ride together. We knew the wedding was downtown, so we didn't bother getting directions. I guess that we forgot that downtown Knoxville is ridiculously confusing. So we couldn't find the church. We stopped and asked a random man on the street and he directed us to a catholic church. We then see a cab and thought that surely he would be able to tell us how to get there. But no...he was about 90 years old and hooked up to an oxygen tank and had no clue where the church was. So we go to a gas station and no one there had any idea. Then after about 45 mins of searching we drive through a parking lot that the street we were on dead ended into and suddenly we were on the street we were looking for. So we got there 30 mins late, so we didn't go in. We grabbed a program, signed our names and were the first ones at the reception.

And now back to the thesis.

thesis....still

My thesis is consuming every minute of my day. If I am not working on it, I am thinking about how I should be working on it. This is by far the largest project I have ever worked on, and I can't wait for it to be over.
I would give anything to be able to step away from this for just a day, but I can't. However, the end is in sight. Due date: Friday July 16.

THESIS

Well....It's 9:00 PM and I am stuck in this decrepid (sp?) math building working on my thesis for the rest of the night. I will be here for more of the next week. Just a few more days (8 to be exact) and it's all over. I can't complain at all...Especially now that I have a job secured for the fall.

Nothing incredibly exciting happened today....but that in itself is incredibly exciting.

Standard day

What's up, everybody?!?
Today was the first day of the second session of summer school. So I was standing in front of my new class and introducing myself. I handed out the syllabus and talked a little about the class. Near the end of class I went to change my weight to my right foot. I am wearing flip flops and my big toe comes down on the leg of my desk. And for some reason that took a huge hunk out of my toe. So two minutes later when i dismiss class, my shoe is completely covered in blood...Thank you blood thinners. Then I realize that I forgot my belt for my suit for my job interview and I have to drive home. But the bridge to my house is under construction...as it will be for the next two months...and I have to wait forever.
So I am running late for my job interview. I get there in time, but not with enough time to prepare a 10 minute lecture that i was supposed to. So I wing it and just go for it.
But on the way to the interview my luck changed. I found out that my biopsies were fine, which is great, but I am having to go to Houston in a month to have some tests run.
After the interview, which went great and they "unofficially" offered me the job, I find out that the fifth and final person offered the job at UT, TURNED IT DOWN and they offered me the job. So i went from no job to having two in an hour. So I have officially accepted the job at UT, and I will be a full time instructor there in the fall. God is good...and hilarious....He just has to keep me in check by making me sweat occasionally.

Until the next story...

The first one

So I have finally decided to do this. After many requests for my email updates, I thought this would be the easiest way to keep everyone up to date on my crazy life. Especially since I can't seem to stay under my cell minutes no matter how high they go. I mean....I have to experience this craziness everyday. So I thought at least I could share so that y'all could get a good laugh. Plus since watching Doogie Howser, I have always wanted an online journal.
I am in the middle of a very hectic summer....teaching....thesis...and the new business. My thesis is due in less than two weeks now....umm excuse me I am now nauseous. A lot of decisions will be made this week. I am in charge of none of them, but at the mercy of all of them. I get my biopsy results back this week...Job interview tomorrow at a community college...and UT makes their final decision about whether or not they are going to offer me a job.
I had a great holiday weekend. Matt and Ashley Gaymon's wedding was tons of fun. I was great to see old faces and catch up. But today it was back to math.
There was a fun little episode today when I was at school writing my thesis and Jason informed me that he saw my car on the street with a flat tire. Perfect. So in the sweltering heat I go outside and try to change the tire. I had on jeans and forgot my belt this morning, so pedestrians got a view very similar to that of a plumber for about 30 mins. I was parked on a hill, which made the car fall off the jack everytime the wheel got off the ground. Safe AND fun. With my vast wealth of common sense, I didn't realize that I should have the emergency brake on until Dad told me. So now I am on the mini spare until I can get it repaired tomorrow before I drive 60 miles to my interview. Its on the same side as the ghetto dent that the sweet lady gave me in the parking lot of Backyard Burger, so I can't keep the ladies off me when they see me driving down the street.

This should be an exciting week...
